The stretch mark medical camouflage only helps to conceal and diminish the appearance of stretch marks so that they are less perceptible to the naked eye. In comparison, think of it as having a permanent filter, taking away the white contrast of your scars.
Unfortunately, we are unable to treat women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Typically, you will have to wait for about 2 years till the stretch marks are fully healed.
In most cases, yes! But there are a few individuals for whom the treatment may not be appropriate. Your stretch marks and scars should be at least two years old, lighter than your skin tone, and fully healed for the procedure to be suitable.
We aim to match your natural skin tone accurately and kindly ask our clients to reschedule their session until their tan has faded. This allows us to create a custom ink color that complements your skin tone whether you are tanned or not.
Your camouflaged stretch marks and scars will not alter in color. Likewise, even if you tan and your skin tone deepens, your stretch marks will stay consistent with your natural skin color, like an ink tattoo.
In essence, the camouflage effect of your stretch marks will be maintained as the “white” contrast diminishes, resulting in a less noticeable difference.
There is none to mild discomfort during the treatment. We refrain from using numbing agents on our clients to maintain the purity of the pigment insertion into the scar or stretch mark. It’s worth noting that pain sensitivity may increase during your monthly cycle, so we recommend scheduling your session or touch-ups accordingly.
It’s normal to experience redness and swelling immediately after the procedure for 1-3 days.
For the first 3 days, you’ll be given strict instructions on how to minimize inflammation, speed up the wound-healing phase, and keep it clean.
In the upcoming weeks, the redness will fade and transition through various shades, from dark to light, as your skin undergoes the healing process.
Everyone’s skin is different. Variables include age, diet, hormones, general health, overtones, sun exposure, etc. Because of the mentioned variables it is impossible to give an exact number of days it will take you to heal. On average, it takes 45-60 days.
You may or may not need a touch up after 5-6 years. Remember, a stretch mark is a scar and so the skin is trickier to penetrate. In addition, as we age, all tattoos transition and change on our skin because there’s less elasticity and melanin production. This can affect your stretch mark camouflage tattoo, as well.
